The Two from Cairns

The two from Cairns were filled with wanderlust
Out west was calling through the outback dust,
"Come on you guys, get on the nomad trail-
Crawl long straight roads and wander like a snail."

Salute with pride the termite mounds, and flies,
And clouds that come and go in rainless skies
Watch out for roos and count the endless gums,
A roadtrain looms, move over here it comes.

Through Isa, Camooweal, and Tennant Creek,
The two from Cairns had barely gone a week.
First town in WA was Kununurra,
With mango trees and blue winged Kookaburra.

Longlast the two caught up with Joyce and Rob
At hidden valley right near Kellys knob.
They drove to Turkey Creek, with mobile homes,
To see the vast Bungle Bungle forest domes.

A stay at old Halls Creek was nice but small,
they got to climb along the China Wall.
The gravel road a big pain in the neck,
Their caravans could look a nervous wreck.

What's that we see, a helicopter yonder?
mustering lots of cattle as they wander.
The pilot flew down low and gave a wave
We all thought, gee that fella's really brave.

Not far from Fitzroy Crossing, lots of smoke,
The bushfires near the road were not a joke.
A tiring wait, until the way was clear,
The trees and grass looked black and really queer.

A RODEO on, now that's a definite MUST,
To watch the bulls and riders hit the dust.
The mighty beasts bellowed, snarled and roared,
They charged around and dumped all those aboard.

Through gorges, caves, and sleeping in the car,
those two old snails had travelled slow but far,
Next stop was Derby, lined with boab trees,
And gold acacias fluttering in the breeze.

The two from Cairns have crossed the great divide,
From Cairns to Broome on Aussies other side.
Where camels, beaches, sunsets all in one,
Give loads of thrills, adventure, pics and fun.

Hence on from Broome, the focus will be Perth,
to see all towns, and sights for what they're worth,
And when times up along the nomad trail,
They'll jump on the familys CAT for long long sail.
