Abbatior Adventures - the duo in Dubbo

In the middleaged years of their busy lives
they worked in a place with meat and knives
He on the slaughter floor, working on the chain
She the cold boning room, going like a train

You should of seen what each one wore
before they even got near the "floor"
headcover and earplugs, a long white uniform
and layers of clothes underneath to keep warm

through airlocked doors, to wash gumboots and hands
they'd grab and apron from off the stands
poke earplugs in ears to block out the din
then climb up the stairs their duties to begin

A check on the list, shows the chores till a break
Is it inserts or flaps, or boxes to make
Then someone yells somethin' - "mate I cant hear a word"
me earplugs are sealed and all hearings absurd!

On continuous belts lay all cuts of lamb
under watchful eyes of Christine, Harley and Cam
shoulders and legs, shanks, necks and racks
chops and loins wrapped ready for packs

The team was great, a hard working lot
they'd get stuck in, and give all they've got
but as time ticked away, farewells must be said
the two want to move on, and west they would head

So all you grey nomads do give it a go
with the "workabout club - Barry", Roger and Co
Its adventure and fun, to at least be a tryer
get in have a go, out at Fletcher's Abbatior

(the life and times of Nev and Lois Savill- 9 weeks in Dubbo, aka Eunice and Rambo Lamb. June - Aug 2005 )
